NCSAA August 16th Update: "We've only just begun..." Edition

8/16/2019

Hi Everyone -

We held off on sending out any updates the first week of school.   Hopefully, everyone has made it out in one piece.    Here are some updates and reminders I wanted to pass along...

1.) Each school needs to do 2 things in order to register to play this Fall.  First, we need you to go to our website and submit your team registration (if you haven’t done so yet) at https://www.ncsaasports.com/register.html  You may make adjustments to this registration until Friday, August 30th at 6pm.  If you need to make a change, simply re-submit the form.  The earlier the better.  Second, we need you to setup your teams in National Sports ID.

2.) National Sports ID is required for ALL student-athletes -- regardless of the age or sport.  Everyone must be fully approved by September 11.  Physicals are required for ALL student-athletes (K-8).  They have an incredibly helpful chat for support in the bottom left of every page.  If you run into an issue please use their chat or email admin@nationalsportsid.com.  I prefer you go through them as they're the experts on the software.  There is a duplicate roster feature that makes life easy once you setup your first team.  Please remember to include your school's full name, division, and sport in the name.  For instance "Pinecrest Cadence JV Girl's Volleyball" as opposed to "Cougars Athletics" or "PCC"

As a quick review, here are the things parents will need in order to complete the National Sports ID:
  1. Birth Certificate - if they lost theirs for any reason, the school probably has one on file
  2. Headshot Photo - should be a close up headshot (without a hat or sunglasses on).  Similar to a Driver’s License.  Have them take a clear photo of their child with their cell phone or use a clear photo of their face.
  3. Proof of Grade Level  – this can be last year’s report card, this year’s class schedule, a screen shot of Infinite Campus.  Just make sure the child’s name, school, and grade are clearly showing.
  4. Physical - They may use our 1 page form located at https://www.ncsaasports.com/physicals.html. A Note from the Doctor clearing them to play is also accepted.  Note: NIAA uses a multiple page form.  We are not requiring those additional pages since those pages are intended for tackle football players.

3.) Baseball - reminder that there are 2 divisions:  K-1st Grade T-Ball & 2nd-3rd Grade Coach Pitch Baseball.  You're welcome to move your little guys up to play in the 2nd & 3rd Grade Coach Pitch if you don't have enough players.  We strongly suggest keeping these rosters around 10-12 kids in order to try to get 3 at-bats in. However, you can have up to 15 if you really needed to.  It may mean only getting 2 at-bats though.

4.) Flag Football - Once you register your teams through http://www.ncsaasports.com/register I will bring you 14 brand new triple threat flags (per team) for you to keep.  Flag Playoff Dates will be: November 12-15 (at various sites under the lights) with our Championships being on November 16th at Pinecrest Sloan Canyon.  The top 8 teams from each competitive division will make the playoffs. Playoff Brackets & Flag Football Rules are now online at https://www.ncsaasports.com/flag.html

5.) Volleyball - Rules are available on our website.  Volleyball Playoffs will be: 1st Round Nov. 4-6 (various sites), Semi-finals Nov. 7-8 at Vegas Aces Volleyball Club Facility in Henderson, Championships on Saturday, November 9th (Location TBD - will be same location as Cheerleading Competition). Brackets & Rules can be found at https://www.ncsaasports.com/girlsvolleyball.html

6.) Playoff Seeding Tiebreakers for Flag Football & Volleyball:
     1) Head to Head
     2) Points/Sets Against (PA in Standings)
     3) Schedule Strength (Opponents W/L)
     4) Coin Toss

6.) Our Google Calendar was showing up for some as "free/busy" but didn't display the information to all.  That has been fixed.  Now it’s easier than ever to sync our NCSAA Calendar to your Google Calendar.  This includes all of our deadlines for NCSAA for the entire 2019 – 2020 School Year and gets updated in real time by us. https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=sports%40ncsaasports.com&ctz=America%2FLos_Angeles  You can also sync our calendar to your iCal: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/sports%40ncsaasports.com/public/basic.ics Lastly, all of our deadlines and important dates are available in the Events Section of our @NCSAASports Facebook Page.

7.) Cross Country
Meet Locations Finalized:
Event #1 - Monday Night, September 9th - Cornerstone Park
Event #2 - Monday Night, September 16th - Craig Ranch Park
Event #3 - Monday Night, September 23rd - Sunset Park
Event #4 - Monday Night, September 30th - Kellogg Zaher Park
Event #5 - Monday Night, October 7th - Exploration Peak Park
Championships/Event #6 - Monday Night, October 21 - Desert Breeze Park
*There are no qualifiers for Championships.  Everyone will be eligible to compete.

We need Parent Volunteers to help mark the course during each meet.  If you could have a few parents that are willing to wear a vest for us and stand on the course to help guide runners we would appreciate it.

VERY IMPORTANT: Due to the way Athletic.net is setup... if you're trying to register an Elementary Team... Register them as Middle School... then put them on their own separate team ... select their grades correctly.  That will put them on a team together and we'll pull them as an elementary school team.

8.) Fall AD Meeting on Monday Night, August 26th from 6-8pm at Mater Bonanza (4760 E Bonanza Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89110).  You may bring as many coaches as you’d like to the meeting.  Guests that will be present:
  • John Dixon from NTS Timing there to talk about Cross Country & Athletic.net
  • Preston Clipper from the Southern Nevada Officials Association & Sin City Referees to talk about Flag Football Rules
  • The Head of our Volleyball Officials Association
Please remember with a lot of people in the room there may be a lot of questions about rules. We WILL NOT be changing any rules at this meeting.  The rules are set for the Fall Season.  This meeting is for rules interpretations only.  This is a chance for you to ask questions.  Please remember that these officials did not run last season of Flag Football.

August 5 Update (Back to School Edition)

8/5/2019

A couple things we wanted to pass along before school starts.

1.) We are making a small scheduling adjustment for all of our competitive divisions. We will now schedule 8 games for everyone. Those who make the playoffs will continue to play. Those who don’t make the playoffs will end their season after the 8th game. This will allow for teams to be able to plan better for their games.
2.) We have flags for you! Once you have officially registered at https://www.ncsaasports.com/register.htmlwe will bring you 14 brand new Triple Threat Flags to use for games and practices (per registered team).
3.) REMINDER: If your school has a balance, we will not allow your teams to play this Fall. We have a few schools that still need to pay their bill from last school year. We need to try to get those paid right away.
4.) We emailed all of our school a step-by-step guide to setting up your teams in National Sports ID. It also shows you how to directly invite parents to register directly for your team. If you still need this guide, it's available for download below or you can email us. We’d be happy to send to you. You should have all of your teams setup in our system by the end of this week.
a. Remember to use your school’s full name and division when setting up each team. Instead of making it “Wildcat Football” it should be something like “Somerset Lone Mountain Elem Comp Flag”
b. Don’t forget to add in your Assistant Coaches.
c. If you need help with the National Sports ID process at any point in the bottom left of the NSID page is a Live Chat feature. They are there to help you. You may also email then at admin@nationalsportsid.com
d. Remember the deadline to have all of your student-athletes approved in National Sports ID is Wednesday, September 11.
