NCSAA July Update

7/14/2019

Hi Everyone –

Out of respect for your Summer Break we’ve held off on sending updates.  Now, a lot of schools are starting to plan their Fall Season so we wanted to push out some updates.

If you missed the May AD meeting here is a video recap of all that was discussed: https://youtu.be/Q3u2zTthD1U

This email has a ton of important information that should be completely read through and not just scanned.

As always if you have any questions please feel free to email sports@ncsaasports.com or text/call 702-600-4445. We will send out another update around August 1.

UPCOMING IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES

August 26 – 6pm Fall AD Meeting at Mater Bonanza

August 30 – 6pm NCSAA Final Day to Add/Drop Teams for Fall Season

September 7 – 6pm NCSAA Fall Game Schedules Released

September 11 – All Fall Participants must be fully approved by National Sports ID

September 14 – First Game of NCSAA Fall Season

NCSAA CALENDAR
Now it’s easier than ever to sync our NCSAA Calendar to your Google Calendar.  This includes all NCSAA deadlines for the entire 2019 – 2020 School Year that we handed out and discussed at the May AD Meeting:
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=sports%40ncsaasports.com&ctz=America%2FLos_Angeles

You can also sync our calendar to your iCal:
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/sports%40ncsaasports.com/public/basic.ics

Lastly, all of our deadlines and important dates are available in the Events Section of our @NCSAASports Facebook Page and our calendar is on our webpage located at: https://www.ncsaasports.com/ncsaacalendar.html

HOW TO SIGN YOUR TEAM UP FOR NCSAA’s FALL SEASON
  1. Go to: https://www.ncsaasports.com/register.html
  2. Completely fill out the online registration form by Friday, August 30th at 6PM.  NCSAA will not accept any late registrations after this deadline.
  3. Any attempt to drop your team after the deadline will result in your school still being charged the full registration amount for the season and your team will remain on the game schedule (regardless of whether we have played any games yet).  NO EXCEPTIONS!!
  4. This form is only to sign up for Fall T-Ball/Baseball, Flag Football, and/or Volleyball.  Cross Country, Cheerleading will have separate registration processes.

NATIONAL SPORTS ID
Say goodbye to bringing your team’s photo roster each week to NCSAA game sites!  We’ve heard your roster complaints and understand how frustrating the process was last season.  Now, every NCSAA student-athlete is required to certify on National Sports ID and complete all the steps before being eligible to play.  Once they have certified they’re clear for the next 365 days.

There is a link on our website or you can send them to: https://www.nationalsportsid.com/ncsaa-fall-sports-age-verification/

National Sports ID makes it easy for you to create a coach account, for parents or you to submit the documents and for NSID to view and verify them. Once approved players will receive a verified Sports ID stating their age and grade, which can be viewed on any device.

Please take a few minutes and create a coach account, create your team and invite your players to get verified Sports ID’s. You can also view a sample verified team ID, a players verified sports ID or some frequently asked questions by clicking any of the buttons below.
National Sports ID Requirements to be completed and approved by September 11th at 6pm:
  1. Headshot Photo – This is similar to a Driver’s License or Student ID Photo.  This should be a close-up, clearly lit photo that shows the student-athlete’s entire face and hair looking directly at the camera.  No hats. No sunglasses.  This can be a recent school photo or one simply taken from your cell phone.
  2. Scan of Birth Certificate, State ID, or Passport
  3. Proof of Grade – This can be your most recent report card, most recent School ID, school schedule showing your child’s grade, screen shot of Online Account (i.e. Infinite Campus) proving grade level, etc.
  4. Proof of Physical – Physicals are mandatory this season. You may provide a Doctor’s Note or use the NCSAA Form available for download at https://www.ncsaasports.com/physicals.html Either is acceptable.
  5. E-Sign NCSAA Participant Waivers
  6. Pay $10 National Sports ID fee per student-athlete

FALL GAME RULES, RULE CHANGES, and POINTS OF EMPHASIS
All of our Fall Game Rules have been updated on our website at ncsaasports.com    Rules for Winter & Spring Sports are still under review and will be updated by August 1. NCSAA reviewed all of your suggestions emailed to us for our Fall Sports.  We are no longer taking suggestions for rule changes in the 2019-2020 School Year. There were no major changes made.  However, here are a few minor changes we’ve put into place:

ALL SPORTS
  1. For ALL Competitive Sports
    • Divisions of 8 Teams or Less – everyone will make the playoffs
    • Divisions of 9 or more teams – 8 teams will make the playoffs.  All other teams will receive 1 consolation game against a like opponent that also didn’t make the playoffs (with a similar record) to end their season.
    • There will not be a consolation playoff bracket (Silver & Bronze Bracket)
  2. Student-athletes may only play on 1 team/division per sport.  However, a student-athlete can continue to take part in as many different sports/activities as they’d like.
  3. All student-athletes are required to have a National Sports ID for ALL NCSAA sports/activities. The approval process includes having a sports physical submitted. (see NSID section)
  4. This is not a change, but more of a point of emphasis: there is no such thing as playing a game “under protest” or having a game be “under review” over a call by a game official.  The Official’s decision is final on the field.  NCSAA will only review an official’s performance/behavior for future education or assignments of the official.  We will not reverse or overturn any calls.
FLAG FOOTBALL
  1. Projected Flag Football Playoff Schedule (Subject to Change):
    • 1st Round Games: Saturday, November 9th
    • Semi-Final Games: November 12 – 14
    • Championship Games: Saturday, November 16
  2. Overtime Rules Changed to be similar to last year’s playoff rules. Here are the OT procedure’s now (Section 6 (page 7 of rules)
    1. If the score is tied at the end of 40 minutes, an overtime period will be used to determine a winner. Overtime format is as follows:
      • A coin toss will determine the team that chooses to be on offense or defense first.
      • Each team will have one set of downs from the 10-yard line to attempt to score a touchdown.
      • The team with the most points after each team has had a possession will be declared the winner.
      • If a third overtime is needed, both teams will be required to attempt a 2-point PAT after a score.
      • These formats will be repeated until a clear winner is declared.
      • All regulation period rules and penalties are in effect.
      • There are no timeouts.
3. Mercy Rule increased to 35 points (from 28).
4. NCSAA will provide flags for each team.

VOLLEYBALL
  1. Projected Volleyball Playoff Schedule (subject to change)
    • 1st Round Games: Monday, November 4 & Tuesday, November 5
    • Semi-Final Games: Wednesday, November 6 & Thursday, November 7
    • Championship Games: Saturday, November 9
  2. Rec. Coed Volleyball (Grades 3-5): Maximum number of boys allowed on the court increased to 3 (from 2).  However, a team is allowed to be made up of all girls.
  3. No High School Girl’s Volleyball will be offered this Fall.
  4. There will no longer be a game time limit for competitive divisions, however the serve time limit will be heavily enforced to keep the game moving.
T-BALL / COACH PITCH BASEBALL
  1. Expanded our offerings to now include 2 separate divisions: T-Ball (Grades: K-1) and Coach Pitch Baseball (Grades: 2-3).
  2. A reminder: Student-Athletes are always welcome to play up in age divisions.
  3. NCSAA will continue to add a new age group every Fall Season.
